Dungeon Twister Tournament Saturday Evening 20th September 2008 |

| DT is played in a rectangular "maze" consisting in 8 randomly placed rooms, with the 2 short sides being the starting zone of a player. Your objective is to score 5 points by either bringing one of your piece on the opponent's starting line (ie, running through the maze) or by removing some of his pieces from the game. These pieces are in fact 8 characters, each with some special ability (there is also 6 pieces of "equipment" adding extra abilities). |

You then have a pool of actions to decide what you want to do each turn: moving, using an ability (walking through walls, jumping over pits, using magic...), fighting, rotating the rooms of the maze to create/block pathways... The gameplay is very tactical as you have to manage a team of characters in a way to block your opponent's way to exit while trying to have some of your characters escaping; you can't really rely on only escaping or killing. Indeed, this balance is not easy to achieve because, when you escape, you don't have these characters to counteract your opponent anymore. |
And if you fight too much, you might become "powerless" due to the way combat is resolved (no luck but a bit of bluff is possible as you add a card from a limited deck to the power of your character). You thus need to planify your actions with some middle-term tactics in mind (especially as the pool of actions is "variable": a cycle of 4 cards, each with a different number of actions, forcing you to manage how much you spend each turn) while being able to quickly alter your plan.
